Ionad Cois Locha www.dunleweycentre.com in Dunlewey (10km) has a theme farmyard and a variety of animals. There is also a traditional weaving loom on display and regular boat trips on the lake. A small theatre relates the history and tradition of the area in film and play.

Tory Island Ferry From the pier at nearby Magheroarty (5km), visitors can take boat trips to Tory Island. www.toryislandferry.com. The island is a bird watchers' paradise, with its towering cliffs rich in so many different forms of bird life. Tory island is also home to the renowned Tory school of painters, one of whom is the King of Tory, Patsy Dan Rodgers www.littleireland.ie/patsydanrodgers.

Beaches: The area boasts some of the finest stretches of beaches in Ireland with the golden sands of Magheroarty and Falcarragh only a couple of kilometres from the hotel.

Glenveagh National Park This beautiful national park is home to herds of red deer and golden eagles. Just a 20 minute drive away from Gortahork, it includes a 14,000 hectare deer park set amongst a dramatic mountain range around Lough Veagh. Here also is a visitor centre with audio-visual displays and Glenveagh Castle surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland.
There are guided tours of the Castle and a restaurant with traditional teas available.


Cloughaneely Marching Band. Visitors can enjoy the regular appearance at Festivals and big days of this local treasure. The band has enjoyed great success at both a local and national level. The youngsters and their mentors are a credit to Cloughaneely

Féile Damhsa Gaelach Ghort a' Choirce Set Dancing Festival

The Seventh Annual Set Dancing Festival organised by Siamsa Altan will be held 17-20 May 2012 in Óstán Loch Altan.
